SOLIDWORKS installation fails with the error 'Installation Manager cannot create registry keys in this location of the registry…'?
Problem
The error 'Installation Manager cannot create registry keys in this location of the registry:…' is received when there is no permission to specify registry keys. Please verify permissions to the specific registry key specified in the error message.
Solution
The easiest way to verify permissions is to follow below steps:
Open the Windows® registry (Windows Key + R to launch 'Run' box, regedit).
Locate the key mentioned in the error message.
Right mouse button click on the key and choose 'Permissions…'.
Press the 'advanced' button.
Click on the 'Effective Permissions' tab then press 'Select...'.
In box, enter the name used to log into the machine and press 'Check Names', after this press OK.
Review the effective permissions for the user name; Full Control is required for the SOLIDWORKS installation.
Please log out of the machine and log in as an administrator or contact your local IT support team for assistance adding permissions to these keys so you may complete the install.
