Why drawing views are not automatically scaled after the sheet format properties are changed to a different scale?

 Problem

Drawing views are not automatically scaled after the sheet format properties are changed to a different scale. The drawing sheet scale is set to 1:1 yet the drawing view is coming in with a scale of 1:5.

 Solution

This is an intended behavior. This is happening because the option "Automatically scale new drawing views" is enabled in 'Tools' > 'System Options' > 'Drawings'.

Open

"Automatically scale new drawing views" in the Drawings Options controls the scaling of new views as follows:

1. When selected, SOLIDWORKS automatically scales the views to best fit on the drawing sheet, and the scale of the drawing sheet becomes the same as the scale of the views.

2. When cleared, the views are inserted at the scale of the drawing sheet.
