File Manager - Troubleshooting steps
Description:
It is observed that in some cases user is unable to launch File Manager. Nothing happens when they try to download/view any attachment. No log is recorded either. This article explains few steps that user can take to fix the problem
Step-1
Uninstall the File Manager client
Clear browser cache, Clear TVC cache.
Check the browser extensions. There should not be any File Manager browser extension
Download the latest version of File Manager from https://products.technia.com/app/tvc/core/tvcLogin.jsp (This step is recommended for those who are installing application through company’s Software Center)
Install File Manager client again. Check File Manager browser extension should be active
Now check your scenario
Step-2
File Manager can be blocked by some application. It is observed that Antivirus program usually blocks File Manager. Antivirus Event Log needs to be checked when user installs File Manager client.
Contact your IT team to unblock the application.
Step-3
Launch the browser in admin mode using command prompt. Here is an example of Chrome browser
Type command prompt in the search bar on the Taskbar.
Right click on the command prompt icon and select Run as administrator.

via command prompt. Type the command start chrome and hit Enter.Now try to launch File Manager / Download any file.
Step-4
File Manager fails to launch due to the error → Failed to start native messaging host
This issue occurs when there is no COMSPEC
environment variable available. Check the page explaining the solution

Step-5
It may also happen that user is able to launch File Manager using Admin login however non admin user is unable to launch the same [When tested on same machine and same environment].
This seems to be a permission issue for addon in the browser. Kindly check with your IT team to allow the users to run File Manager addon. This is not a TVC File manager issue. Admin users has permission to run the addon and that’s why you are able to see it enabled.
Step-6
If the problem is specific to any user [Others has no issue with File Manager]
Uninstall the File Manager client
Clear browser cache, Clear TVC cache.
Remove .tvc folder (Default Path- C:\Users\Technia\.tvc)
Reinstall File Manager client
NOTE: It is recommended to use the latest version of File Manager and latest version of the browser so that you ensure that the known issues are fixed.
