When inserting an assembly into another assembly, this message appears ‘One of the components of the assembly is in rollback state. Cannot add now’. How do I determine which parts are rolled back?

 Problem

‘One of the components of the assembly is in rollback state. Cannot add now’ displays while inserting an assembly into another assembly.

 Solution

To determine which parts are in a rollback state, follow these steps:

  1. Open the top-level assembly in which you want to insert another assembly.

  2. Go to ‘Insert’ > ‘Component’ > ‘Existing Part/Assembly’.

  3. In the ‘Open’ dialog box, select the subassembly to insert, specify 'Resolved' mode, and then click ‘Open’.

  4. SOLIDWORKS® displays a message that indicates which component is in a rollback state. See the below image for visual reference. Make sure to roll the component forward.

  5. The subassembly inserts into the top-level assembly.

  6. If multiple components of the subassembly are in a rollback state, you receive a series of messages for each component from step 3.
