File name of global model exceeds 512 character limit

File name of global model exceeds 512 character limit

Question

When starting my submodel analysis i receive the following error message in the dat-file:

***ERROR: THE SUBMODEL GLOBAL MODEL FILE NAME EXCEEDS THE 512 CHARACTER FILENAME LIMIT.

Even though I clearly have less than 512 characters in my file name. How can I solve it?

Answer

The error is an indication of where the problem lies. BRIGADE/Plus have a problem accessing the global model that drives the local model.

To specify which global model the local model uses, right click on the local model in the model tree and choose Edit Attributes.

In the Edit Model Attributes dialog window, choose the tab Submodel at the bottom of the dialog window. In the tab you can then give the name of the job that is the global mode. Note that the global job files needs to be in the same folder as the local model.

However that is not all. Even though you have specified the global model in the model file you can get the error mentioned above. To solve it, you need to specify the global model for the specific task in the job processor. Right click on the task that ends in an error, and choose “Edit Analysis Task Setting”.

In the Base Load Cases Settings window, tick the Submodel analysis box and type in the name of the global model (or browse). Again, note that the global job files needs to be in the same folder as the local model. Click Save.

Back in the Job Processor, click on the Start Job button to run the analysis again. Now, you analysis should be able to complete.
