Script error while applying appearances

Problem

When trying to apply an appearance in SOLIDWORKS, you may see the following error:

 ‘An error has occurred in the script of this page. Error: No such interface supported,

URL: file://[SOLIDWORKS installation folder]/data/search/search.js’

 

Step by Step Solution:

1.Go to Start Search for “REGEDIT” and open it.

2. Navigate to the following three locations and look for the presence of ‘sldworks.exe’.  

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MAIN\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION

 SOLUTIONS:

 If you find instances of ‘sldworks.exe’, there are two possible solutions:

 Possible Solution 1

  • Remove the ‘sldworks.exe’ dword entry from the registry keys in these locations and then restart the computer. i.e Right click on ‘sldworks.exe’ and select delete

 Possible Solution 2

  1. Right Click on 'sldworks.exe

  2. Click on Modify(as shown in below 1st image)

  3. Select Decimal from base and input 7000 value as shown in 2nd image below.

 

 

 4. After that click OK restart the system once and try applying Appearances.
