EN: Solidworks data model cad family
Q: When I save SOLIDWORKS files to 3DEXPERIENCE, what type of objects does the system create?
A: Understanding the SOLIDWORKS data model within the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
Several things happen when you save SOLIDWORKS® files to 3DEXPERIENCE®. Not only does the system upload the files to your platform, but more importantly, the system creates certain types of 3DEXPERIENCE objects that link to your SOLIDWORKS files. These objects represent your SOLIDWORKS data and allow you to open that data in other 3DEXPERIENCE apps. These objects are the SOLIDWORKS data model.
For each part file you save, 3DEXPERIENCE creates, hierarchically.
A CAD Family object
Physical Product objects for each configuration
3D Shape objects for each Physical Product object
For each assembly file you save, 3DEXPERIENCE creates, hierarchically.
A CAD Family object
Physical Product objects for each configuration
For each drawing file you save, 3DEXPERIENCE creates a Drawing object.
You can use the Relations app to interrogate the data model.
Note: 3D Shape objects do not appear in 3DSearch or 3DSpace. They are visible in other apps, like Bookmark Editor, Product Structure Explore, and Relations. Also, you cannot delete 3D Shape objects separately. To delete these objects, you must delete the parent Physical Product object.
