EN: SOLIDWORKS Representation Configuration
Q: Why there is only one Physical Product when I open a multi-configuration part in SOLIDWORKS®, with the '3DEXPERIENCE Integration' option enabled, ?
A: The number of Physical Products in a multi-configuration part is based on the following Configuration Properties value:
Bill of Materials Options
Part number displayed when used in a bill of materials:
To access this information, turn off the 3DEXPERIENCE Integration option from SOLIDWORKS® System Options and open the multi-configuration part. Then, in the ConfigurationManager, right-click a configuration and select Properties.
If you use the same name in the part number field for all configurations, then you will see one Physical Product for one of the configurations and Representations for the rest of the configurations.
This scenario can occur when you have one of the following set for part number, for all configurations:
Document Name - uses the SOLIDWORKS file name, which is the same for all configurations.
User Specified Name - if you use the same name for all the configurations.
If you select Configuration Name for all the configurations, then you will see Physical Products for configurations.
Note that Document Name and User Specified Name choices are NOT available after you save an existing part or assembly with one of the following:
3DEXPERIENCE Integration enabled.
You update the file using the Update for 3DEXPERIENCE compatibility option from FeatureManager Design Tree right-click menu. See EN: '3DEXPERIENCE Integration' options in the SOLIDWORKS® 3D CAD software for information on this topic.
